If it happens, I’ll still campaign for him. But I will be extremely, painfully disappointed. Not fatally. But almost.

That got me to thinking, were all those rumors about Kerry/McCain started by Dem insiders to portray Bush as being beholden to the fanatical religious Right? And are these rumors of Kerry/Gephardt being started by Republican insiders to portray Kerry as similarly isolated on the left.
Kerry picking Gephardt as his VP mate would be so incredibly stupid that it boggles the mind. Isn’t he surrounded by flanks of highly paid political consultants? Even I know that it’s absolutely imperative that Kerry pick some young and charismatic and from a swing state, like Edwards or one of the several governors whose names are floating around.

Kerry picking Gep would be an absolute disaster, that’s true. But suggesting that it’s some Republican conspiracy theory is kind of premature, isn’t it?
Why not Edwards? Is there some particular reason why Edwards isn’t a first choice for VP? Apart from the fact that Edwards looks a damned sight better than Kerry, that is. 🙂

Very interesting article Wayne, thanks.
The good news, i hope, is that all the papers are saying today that the frontrunner now is actually Edwards. Man, I hope they are right.
