He’s just a state senator, and already somebody’s working 24/7 to destroy his reputation over at Obama Truth Squad. Somebody obviously sees him as a big threat.

Kind of hard to justify calling this “smearing” Some legitimate questions on his positions on some issues. Some dissembling on his past statements (possibly taken out of context) and a couple of cheap shots. All in all just what you’d expect from any opposition – even from within his own party.
As he gains more stature he will draw more responses, both positive and negative. So far I saw nothing on this site that attacked him personally or aleged past scandals or corruption. That will come I suppose (deep sigh of disgust) but this is pretty light weight so far.
Look on the bright side. George hasn’t posted any attacks on him – yet.

It is smearing. They actually send out press releases about him!

Consider the reason for the website: Obama’s running unopposed after a brutal scorched-earth campaign that ended up with his opponent dropping out when his divorce records were unsealed.

Obama had nothing to do with the records being unsealed, nor has he been blamed for that. It was the newspaper. I personally felt that was wrong, and it set an ugly precedent.

Some of the Google search queries to my blog after the keynote have been searches for “obama anti-semitism.” More interesting was the person who searched for “obama antichrist.” Silly monthly and category archives…

Not surprising, Martey. He’s a threat, and they want to get the character assassination done now to stop him dead in his tracks. Looking at the smear site, I’d say they are doing poorly and that they’ll have to go out of their way to stretch the truth — and they will. Luckily America has seemed to wise up a good deal about the Republican slime machine, and it may well backfire on them.

OK Richard, I looked at the site. Here’s a summary of the posts (note the tone):
1. Press release on Obama’s voting record
2. Post politely quoting Obama on trade and questioning his understanding of the issue.
3. Links to keynote commentaries
4. Post questioning Telegraph article that said Obama is really an Adam Smith devotee (questioned intelligently in the comments).
Etc.
Richard’s take:
“he character assassination…to stop him dead in his tracks… the smear site…go out of their way to stretch the truth…the Republican slime machine.”
With all due respect, I think your reaction to a site put up by a guy who doesn’t want to be represented by Obama and is making his points in a polite manner, is exaggerated.

Boo, we’ll have to disagree on this. Anyone who sets up a web site that is dedicated solely to spewing out bad things about someone is a smearer. Its not about how good an alternative candidate is, it’s not about any ideals of its own, just about attacking Obama. You’re right, it may not be the Republican slime machine, but just a disgruntled individual; I don’t know.
