Dewey defeats Truman!

What do you expect — it’s the New York Post.

Update: My friend Jeremy writes on his blog today about watching Fox News’ coverage of the Edwards pick:

So, watching Neil Cavuoto, waiting for his repartee on the events that had unfolded. So, Cavuoto goes right to how the market opened and gauges his comments with “not that I’m being partisan, but this is historically true” that the market drops because of Democrats. Okay, the market opens lower today, and three more times Cavuoto says that he’s not being partisan, but …

Okay, the market could have opened lower today because: three Marines were killed, oil is at $40 / barrel, it’s earnings week for a few companies. Any of these are pretty good indications for a drop in the market.

The “not being partisan” was said about two many times, bringing it to a total of oh, about 20 times he said it (exaggeration). It’s like the great joke, “I’m not a racist, but I hate (any ethnic minority will work).” He protested too much.

What does he expect — it’s Fox News. And what a coincidence, that Rupert Murdoch owns both Fox news and the NY Post….

Despite all of the speculation over the past few months, Edwards was the only logical choice for Kerry.

BooYAH!

As a longtime Edwards supporter, this pleases me greatly.

Same here. But the attacks have already started, including the McCain ad, which is in truth a sign of how shitty a president Bush is. (I just saw the ad, and you’d think McCain is God.) McCain isn’t running for president! They haven’t yet put out an ad that is all about Bush. They’ve all been attack ads of the gutter variety and now this ad featuring McCain, who is everything Bush is not. I watched Fox News this morning crucifying Edwards as they “praised” him with big grins on their faces. (“Of course, this is another Kerry flip-flop since he said earlier that Edwards didn’t have the experience….”) They’re running scared already, and brace yourself for all the talk of “inexperience,” “trial lawyer,” “ignorant on foreign policy” etc. Was Dan Quayle a foreign policy guru or a man of vast experience? Was GWB? But never mind that; we’ve got some character assassination to do.

Check through your comments. I insisted. I was right.!

Oddly, before even coming to your blog, I picked the same headline.

It’s the only one that made the selection entertaining.

The right was ready for this one and damn they’re vicious.

This from Newsmax:

“Bush Touts McCain, Mocks Edwards as Kerry’s Second Choice

That new TV for President Bush featuring John McCain points out that John Edwards is John Kerry’s second choice as a running mate.

The Republican National Committee said: “John Kerry was against John Edwards before he was for him. But now he’s his running mate. Who is John Edwards? A disingenuous, unaccomplished liberal and friend to personal injury trial lawyers.”

But he’s so pretty. ”

“Edwards Flip-flops to Join Democrat Ticket

John Edwards repeatedly said he would not be John Kerry’s running mate. Will he be honest in the future, or did his denials in fact expose his character?”

I take offence to that headline. The Post is one of the four papers I get daily – NY Times, Mercury News, WSJ and the NY Post. It has a great business section.

Why do Republicans suck so much? Do they not remember Voodoo Economics? And Bush’s track record is one huge flip-flop. They really are hysterical.

Jeremy, it may have a great biz section, but the Post is never the source to turn to for political clarity/objectivity. ( Well, none of the papers is objective in the truest sense of the word, but the Post is downright shameless. )

Plus, it’s Page Six rocks!! I do like Fox News and the NY Post for its pro-Israel stance. That country is the first line of defence against terrorism.

July 6, 2004 @ 10:28 am | Comment

Being pro-Israel is great. But it doesn’t excuse their sins. They’re trash for the right.

July 6, 2004 @ 10:34 am | Comment

I also like trash – that’s the predilection for WT and my fascination with Ann Coulter, and some of the talking heads on Arizona morning shows.

July 6, 2004 @ 10:49 am | Comment

I guess I “like” trash, too — or at least I’m fascinated by it. I watch Fox religiously and read Ann “Adam’s Apple” Coulter and the other wingnuts. Just never forget — they’re sick, twisted, lying, despicable, psychotic, sociopathic, BS-ing scum.

“but this is historically true” that the market drops because of Democrats”

I don’t even think that’s true. I did a lot of research on markets/parties in the past, and Republicans are pretty hard on the market, especially in the first couple of years of an administration. Cavuto is probably a dimwit.

July 6, 2004 @ 6:33 pm | Comment

It’s a myth. You know, like Democrats always lead us into war. And Cavuto is definitely a dimwit. Clinical tests prove it.
