Delay is finished. Expect him to resign any day now.
And to think that such scum typified the moral fiber of the Age of Bush. How tragic, how pathetic, how fucking sad. Just look at how America has descended, step by step, into moral depravity. This is what we voted for last November, and now we are reaping that which we sowed. Who could have ever predicted that a once great nation would plummet to such despicable depths?
Update: That post was written in the middle of an insomniacal night and on second glance is way too histrionic. But the fact remains, here is a case of amazingly blatant corruption, punishable crimes — and yet Delay remains one of the most powerful men in the world, protected by his corruption-drenched party. It really is indicative of our age, where you can get away with absolutely anything if you are rich and connected. The man is a criminal, there’s simply no way around it.

Maybe my memory is failing me, but haven’t Delay gotten out of similar troubles before? I think it’d be a little out of character for him to resign so easily, it’d be the relatively honorable thing to do. I expect Delay to try his best to shamelessly spin his way out of this one.

Delay likes to win and he won’t go down easily. But I trhink this brings too much direct pressure on him. Some of the other investigations focus on his colleagues. In this new case, there doesn’t seem to be any way out if the allegations are true — his wife and daughter are caught taking huige wads of cash illegally and with Tom’s full knowledge. This puts him in a very tough spot.

If — a very big if, IMHO — he does resign, he’ll promptly climb upon the cross, à la GannonGuckert, and play the victim card.

Maybe God will send him another vegetative woman that he won’t meet, and he’ll be okay.

I just watched CNN, he’s already blamed the “liberal media” for his own faults.

Tom Delay, blaming the liberal media for his woes? Imagine that!
Does no one see the insanity here, of this man making the most pretentious and weepy appeal to “choose life” for Terri Schiavo and pounding on the Bible with one hand while accepting millions in bribes with the other? How can they let him stay in office?

I think he will hide somewhere for a month or two until this controversy dies down. He did the exact same thing several times before.

There is one major difference this time: The ones leaking this information to the media are REPUBLICANS. Delay is totally radioactive, and they want to distance themselves. My guess is he’ll put up quite a fight and go down in disgrace within the next 6-12 weeks.

Maybe this is a precurser for the fall of the insane, the criminal and the outrageous elements of the “Republican” Party. If Delay does go down look for the more outrageous “Republicans” in Congress to shut up.
The next step in thwarting the “Republican” scheme to wind America back to some supposed “paradise” for property owners/voters on the backs of the poor, the workers and the unprivileged is to defeat all of the knot-headed judges Bush wants to appoint who claim or are claimed to be strict constructionists, that is, those who can see by only looking backwards.
