I’ve been trying to access one of my favorite China sites all day, but keep getting the dreaded “cannot find site” window. I hope everything’s okay.
UPDATE: They’re back. Hack attack.

And China Herald says “account suspended”. Did they both register on the same day or something?

What a strange day. Now I can’t get into CRS Asia, and that’s a Hong Kong site. Must be an eerie coincidence.

So Bingfeng, have you been able to get to my site before, and just not today?
It is kind of weird. The last few posts I’ve done have been pretty upbeat and positive, e.g., the Green China one. But maybe the Wall didn’t like the article about golf?!

Lisa, the Cybernanny wouldn’t bother blocking your site or mine — we’re not going to cause the masses of China to revolt. There must be some explanation, though right now I don’t know what it is.

Danwei is blocked for me also here in China.
Just saw a SCMP headline saying the Nanny has blocked a “Website for gays.”

Danwei has not been blocked by the Nanny: it’s a server meltdown, apparently caused by $%#@% hackers. Perhaps there was a similar attack on Chinaherald.

other lisa,
blogspot sites are not accessable here, execpt one – betelnut blogger, actually i think the betelnutblogger have more “anti-china” posts. today i can get into jing’s site again, for the first time in several weeks, but it still doesn’t work with your lovely site. too bad.
fortunately we have the duck nest, together with belelnutblog, so i can occasionally “corrupt” myself!

If you do want to read blogspot sites then Google Web Accelerator, despite its flaws, is your friend.
You can always turn it off when you’re not busy circumventing The Man to read BBC News, anyway.

And bingfeng, you can always visit my site via anonymouse…I just did a review of the new Star Wars movie and already got a pretty weird comment!
Looking forward to your update, Bingfeng…I know how hard it is to keep one’s site fresh, unless of course one is Richard, who seems to have superhuman powers in this regard…

other lisa,
that’s the way i used to visit your site before, but it doesn’t work anymore.
thanks. i think for every blogger there will be a period of idleness after the initial passions vanish. to be honest with you, i don’t want to create high expectations on my blog, so when i decide to have a break or close it, i wont have the sense of guilty for my readers as those who have to maintain a high-quality blog
great, danwei site has been recovered

JD,
China seems to have circumvented the proxy functions of the Google Web Accelerator somehow. I find it completely useless. All it does it return a Google error page for blocked sites instead of the familiar default browser error page.

Yes, Danwei is back, but China Herald is still “missing in action”.

John,
Web Accelerator doesn’t get everything, but it will let you in to a lot of otherwise banned stuff, like the Independent, BBC News, Asia Times in Chinese, that kind of thing.
Of course, anonymouse was better but has gone the way of corduroy flares.

Lisa:
I got through from China to Papertigertail I guess. Read some articles, but when I tried to comment it went to something like no connection.
