A peculiar hybrid of personal journal, dilettantish punditry, pseudo-philosophy and much more, from an Accidental Expat who has made his way from Hong Kong to Beijing to Taipei and finally back to Beijing for reasons that are still not entirely clear to him…

Interesting thoughts, sure. But I think they would have a little more ‘umph’ if BF weren’t quite the Japan basher himself as one of his commenter’s have already pointed out.
Let’s face it, people are going to take from your blog whatever they are looking for. I would equate it to interpreting art work. You may look at a painting and see a wonderful piece of art, but I may look at it and think you seriously need a new pair of glasses.
I’m not a big fan of political correctness and I’m not going to paint a pretty picture of something if there’s nothing pretty to paint or delete others’ comments just to keep from offending someone else. (unless the comments are purely racist)
That’s horseshit!
BF is right about one thing, blogs are personal and they are public. Therefore, I’m putting my personal view out there for the public to chew on as they see fit. If someone doesn’t like or agree with my point of view, then I whole-heartedly invite them to leave refute it. It’s not like I post something and then disable the comments (or truncate everyone’s responses) so as to project only my point of view.
The way I see it, people come to my blog to read my point of view and that’s what they’re going to get. Again, if someone doesn’t agree with my view, I invite them to leave one of their own.
I don’t claim that my view is the right view, it’s just my take on my experiences and of course someone like BF would never understand what it feels like to be a foreigner in China anymore than a foreigner could know what it feels like to be a Chinese in China.
We’re both window shopping.

Thanks for for heavy dose of good common sense Gordon.
The fact is, arguing with Bingfeng et al about China-bashing is like bashing (no pun intended) your head against a wall as they simply won’t believe it.
They like to neatly pigeon-hole foreigners into their extremely simplistic and often incorrect world-view.
