A peculiar hybrid of personal journal, dilettantish punditry, pseudo-philosophy and much more, from an Accidental Expat who has made his way from Hong Kong to Beijing to Taipei and finally back to Beijing for reasons that are still not entirely clear to him…

Or maybe they don’t find it as offensive to post nude Korean women on their site rather than posting nude Chinese women?

Escape from your cubicle…a picture book for adults. Someone’s going to need some glasses, all for the sake of a dubious world record (via Mia). America wants greater access to China’s markets, saying Chinese firms have full access to American market…

You think those milk silo’s are real?BTW, Gordon, Koreans ARE Chinese. You haven’t learned a thing in China. Korean is just a dialect of Mandarin. Now go eat some kimchi.

I heard some parents complained and the response was, “there is no intercouse, so it is not porn.” Lots of soft porn in China is sold as arts.
Generally speaking, american mainstream are much more conservative than chinese media. Also, the diference between NYtimes and tabloid is quite clear. In chinese media, you can see serious article, tabloid news and ads on breast improvement on the same page. Funny business.

Steve, Americans are very hung up on sex. That’s one of the things I like least about America, where the human body is something dirty and obscene.

It’s a race to the bottom in Internet protals’ fierce competition to attract China’s vulgar, young public, who have newly discovered a lot of freedom.

Ranc is right that chinese internet portal sites are racing to the bottom. The photos are nothing compared to the close to obscene (soft porn) headlines that are all over the Chinese internet.
As a female, I find them very annoying and sometimes even offensive.
Perhaps the next portal that can make big bucks is one that is free of soft porns.

True, Andrea. Almost every day my favorite site Danwei shows soft porn from, of all places, Xinhua!

Yes, I can’t explain it either. It does puzzle me. A crass attempt for more readers by providing the lowest common denominators would probably be my best attempt to explain this.
It must be just a numbers game as who the hell would seriously want the kind of readers that would be attracted to that?
(Apologies Conrad).

I dont wanna argue anything, since I did search the page on sina but failed. I would rather NOT believe it as long as I see the picture displayed this way on Sina. Technologies can conceal the facts, esp on pics. I wanna ask Richard, did you see the picture displayed this way on sina? or you just copy it to your space simply because you saw it on others’ space and then believe it that way?

reserved in common life and out inside, the internet soft porn is perversive now in China, this kind of mixture content can be found in most sites . and the westen sites just seperate them out.
i often cought sights of “”naked” at mainstream sites. such as “naked man suiside”, “naked man sleep at park”, “naked LaoWai sitting at McDonals”. meets them everyday. and most rediculous one i can rember is “Phixx’s SM in their new music video”.
i notice that, beside the picture in the post, a title is “hilton’s sex videos exposure…”
i think actracted to nuke is a natural feature of the human being, but becoming a bug to bother everyone on everyday.

Henry, where the hell have you been? You can’t just disappear for days on end you know.
My sister-in-law saw the site as I was reading it and shrugged her shoulders. She said it was very common on the Chinese websites. Like what Henry just said above I suppose.

Im seriously laughing up a storm right now. I recognize that some people maybe outraged but they are obviouslly missing out on all the fun. I’m sure American Man will be disheartened to know that those “milk silos” are indeed fake, and thats not the only thing.
The caption on the picture, han guo zu he lady da zhan shen duan, is referencing the Korean band “Lady” . For those not in the know, the band lady is Korea’s first and only transgender musical group. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, its not merely t he fact that the woman is naked persay, but rather that woman is in fact a man.

This is pretty mild as porn goes, you see much worse than this in the front window of just about every books and magazine store in places like Chiba. In fact, you see worse than this pinned inside lockers in just about every highschool in the US.
[enter sarcasm mode]
Of course we all ‘Know’ that here is no porn in China, at least not with Chinese in it, yu see a Chinese women with her clothes off, parade around with her bits hanging out then she must be JAPANESE (or maybe Japanese American) pretending to be Chinese.

disregarding your sarcasm for a moment ACB, I’ve never actually ran across professional pornography produced in the mainland. Plenty of the stuff from HK and Taiwan though and of course the ubiquitous nature of Japanese porn.

A- man,
youre full of shit or yourself; Koreans are not Chinese, the lingoes are world apart. You must be confused either from the profusion of chinese characters in Hangul, or from the usual chauvinistic Chinese claim that Koreans are but a minority race group in Chinese Manchuria. or youre just plain full of yourself way too much to care. Hangul borrows from a lot of Chinese words, and at first i thought you said Korean is a dialect of Manchurian which could be excusable since the two are similiar.

Glad to be of service American man though i still have problem with this handle, excusez wha as the fosays are so fond of saying. But on further deliberation, i have to consider the possibility that you were trying to be ironic and i were the one missing something here and you are now mocking me. But as i see it the Chinese are always given more dues than they deserve.
