Will anyone be there on November 5-6? I know it’s all in Chinese, but I was hoping to show up to meet some of my fellow pundits. If anyone wants to meet up, let me know; I should arrive in town on November 3 and will work out of my Shanghai office for two days.

Isn’t that kind of like showing up with a wanted poster in hand to turn yourself in?

Well, Rebecca MacKinnon will be playing a key role, and she’s more outspoken than I am on CCP treachery.

And I’m sure the secret police will be intermingled with the bloggers, taking names and lots of notes.

huh? what’s happening? well, i certainly won’t be showing up at any official blog conference held in shanghai. i’ve got enough to worry about without showing and advertising myself as a person to monitor.
but nevertheless, i’ll be in shanghai.

kevin,
I heard the Chinese bloggers conference will be held by CNBlog.org. Is that an official one?

I’ll be stopping by. I assume I already have spies – given my registration with the foreign ministry and intl press center – so that’s less of a concern for me. Send me a message if you’d like to meet up.

Oh, for your question, CNBlog and Bokee are the main domestic BSPs. They are private concerns, so they’re not really ‘official’ in that sense, but they naturally have operational restrictions that come with operating in China.
