A peculiar hybrid of personal journal, dilettantish punditry, pseudo-philosophy and much more, from an Accidental Expat who has made his way from Hong Kong to Beijing to Taipei and finally back to Beijing for reasons that are still not entirely clear to him…

Hey Richard, I think you’re straying over the top when you resort to bathetic phrases such as “you won’t believe this” or “not for the weak”, and I think the lack of comments suggests others agree. Soldiers without limbs feeling betrayed about a war they now question isn’t news to even the casual visitor to this site. If I was among the core hardline conservatives that post comments, I’d probably set up a collection box for tissues for you. (Right after one for a Mao book of your very own…..)
🙂 (I will now use these stupid icomns that I detest so no confusion can be made about mylevel of sarcasm or sincerity…

I really didn’t expect comments to this – there’s not much to say. But you’re probably right in sounding bathetic. I’ll try to tone it down, but the truth was, i really did find it a shocking story. It told me things about the solders’ suffering that i really didn’t know before, or didn’t want to know.
