A peculiar hybrid of personal journal, dilettantish punditry, pseudo-philosophy and much more, from an Accidental Expat who has made his way from Hong Kong to Beijing to Taipei and finally back to Beijing for reasons that are still not entirely clear to him…

Richard,
I can tell you, that based on my last six CNY’s experiences, it will go every day with the largest being on the 6th or 7th day of the Festival.
I’m flying back home to Jiangsu at 2:00am tomorrow morning! Sweeeeeeet!

“Is this going to go on all week?”

I tend to amuse myself by yelling inappropriate things in the street after prolonged bursts of explosive exuberance:
“The Guomindang have returned! Take cover.”
But then again, my father-in-law has purchased an arsenal of explosive devices sufficient to retake Taipei, so I’m guessing we will be celebrating Spring Festival the traditional way…eat dumplings, blow shit up.

(Which reminds me; I decided to open a blog with that title on the People’s Daily blogging platform a while back. Wonder if it’s still there.)
