Sinocidal recently rebutted various complaints made against them, by pointing out some far, far worse things one can find on the internet…..
Such as an official, English-language forum of a Chinese newspaper that likes to think of itself as the “window to China”. All I can say is (having read many other posts there) if that’s China I would prefer to close the window and pull the curtains closed!

UPDATE: A thread on the Chinadaily BBS has many amusing comments you should read, many generally pointing to why Sinocidial is right that it is heavily populated by trolls and complete fools.
The gratuitous and uncensored swearing also supports my belief that the Chinadaily moderators are completely useless and should spend more time in making the forum a fun, safe place to post, rather than delete comments for their political comment.

Gee, Raj, I went there for the first time roaming for about four hours and didn’t see any thing particularly inflammatory. I found the Chinese transliteration of western words is entertaining though. Now time to call it a day.
Can you pinpoint a post so we can go after?

Not exactly, fatbrick. Some of the Sino guys are married to Chinese women, who may not wish to emigrate. Leaving a country has a much, much, much, much, much, much, much bigger impact on one’s life than clicking that little red and white X in the top right corner of your browser.

You spent four hours roaming around the forum in a single day? I find that rather hard to believe somehow…..
There are plenty of quite incredible comments all over the place – look harder. I shouldn’t have to pick them out for you. Unlike other forums they don’t get deleted – the priority seems to be removing “politically inconvenient” material.
But if you really want to understand the Chinadaily forum, you need to post there, be savaged by the ultra-nationalist biggots that seem to run the place and time after time after time beg the moderators to do something about such people, only to find your complaints generally ignored.
Then you might understand why it is both a joke and very sad at the same time.

I beat you Sepa, I spend 12 hours every day on the China Daily Forum. It’s like a drug: I need constant reinforcement that “the hegemons should mind their own business” and that any chinese girl who even talks to a foreigner is a “total whore.”

This is not a mutual admiration society. There are many arguments taking place from all kinds of perspectives. I never have and never will delete a comment for taking a view opposed to my own. I have never touched Hong Xing’s comments, though it’s tempting to do so. Jing is a frequent critic as is JXie and others, but I appreciate their comments and respect them. They disagree with me on lots of things and we can get into heated arguments. Same with Bingfeng and many others. What you did, however, is something I won’t tolerate. If you want to come on here and say you find me deficient for this or that and that you hate my site, etc., you will get zapped. Because there’s something inauthentic and destructive about it. If you really dislike my site and feel I am stupid, you would simply avoid my site, But to keep coming back and continuing the insults indicates you have ulterior motives, namely to destroy the conversation and act as a troll. I pay for this site and created it out of nothing, and I’m not letting it get hijacked by you or the two people you’ve chosen to defend, Hong Xing and MAJ. Careful of the company you keep.

China Daily may be filled with the worst, most myopic, ignorant Chinese nationalists ever seen by mankind… but that doesn’t in any way change my perception of the principals behind Sinocidal.

I read Taiwan Bloggers regularly where many foreigners voice their complaints about Taiwan – the traffic, people etc. But I’ve never seen anything like those nasty, ignorant, stupid rude, obnoxious Chinese nationalist commentators that you run into here…like Bing Feng and his ilk. They are a real piece of work. They are a good reason why Taiwan should not reunify with China. However, I think they are really a victim of their government’s propaganda and indoctrination and as individuals they are not intelligent enough to break the mold and think for themselves. They have a troubling sense or desire for supremecy…a dream of a greater China (one that includes HK and Taiwan…two first world countries and economic powerhouses who’s success mainland Chinese had nothing to do with) and for the world to think that they are great because they are Chinese and not just the maker of cheap products, cheap labour and shameless piracy.
