Leave this blog now and go watch this sizzling video clip of Vanity Fair’s Judy Bacharach giving Fox News its comeuppance on the topic of Bush’s lavish inauguration. It’s refreshing — no exhiliarating — when the tables turn and the usual demagogues get demagogued themselves. You can feel the “reporter’s” blood pressure rise as she strives unsuccessfully to get back control of the interview. If only more Fox interviewees’ would show this kind of strength and not let the the Fox gang walk all over them.

I think that I would have to say that
“Have you noticed any peace or any transfer of democracy in Iraq? If you have, then you’re the first person to have seen it.”
Is probably my quotation of the month.
If America had more talk show guests like that …..

Another recent bright spot was Barbara Boxer’s pointed questioning during the Condoleeza Rice confirmation hearings.
When I lived in California, I voted for Barbara Boxer every opportunity I had. Congressional Democrats with cajones are few and far between these days, we gotta celebrate the ones we have.
Viva la Boxer Rebellion!

Oh, I watched this shortly after the interview – this is up there with Jon Stewart telling the Crossfire folks that their show is bad for democracy, with that crazy (now former) Senator from Georgia (this is embarrassing, I forget his name) challenging Chris Matthews to a duel, and Wes Clark driving Sean Hannity to red-faced hysteria after one of the debates (they had to take the camera off Hannity cuz he looked like he was going to stroke out).
It’s really not just about Fox, it’s about nearly all of the television media. Hardly anyone is willing to step outside of the box and speak the truth. I just heard on NPR tonight an interview with David Brock, the former republican tool turned guilty progressive, talking about bias on the cable channels. CNN did the best in terms of balance between conservatives and progressives, and MSNBC was the worst, and really bad at that. Fox was actually more balanced than MSNBC, scary as that sounds…

Fox News Meltdown
How well does Fox handle intelligent, concise criticism of Bush? Or even just someone speaking the truth? Here’s a test case. It’s pretty damning. via Peking Duck…

Yes, it was truly stunning. I’m still getting over it myself, and wondering how the mainstream media can continue to ignore the news that Bush is not FDR, and by God, he should have served chicken salad.

The best part for me was when the “reporter” said that a prayer breakfast in Washington was helping our troops. And was totally serious about it.

Maybe we should throw the reporter out and use her hugely inflater salery to buy troops body armor or armored vehicles.
Better still, lets send her to Iraq and sit her in a humvee with less battlefield survivability than an off the shelf SUV.
