Even though its opinions on domestic issues are radically different from my own (to give you an idea: Michelle Malkin is listed on the blogroll), I still enjoyed looking over this relative newcomer to the Chinese blogosystem. Good observations of the current Japan-bashing and other goings-on on the Mainland. (On US politics, let’s just hope he comes around and realizes that the Left is Right and the Right is Wrong.)

Thank’s for the mention, Richard.
I have a good friend that shares the same opinion as you (domestic issues). He’s a liberal, but I like him anyway and I’m one that believes we should never surround ourselves with people who think just as we do.
Otherwise if no one is there to challenge our views, how can we know where we truly stand?

Gordon’ blog raises some meaty issues so far. A wonder it is not blocked. He linked an article by John Derbyshire that said Taiwan had only been actually governed by a Chinese dynasty for a total, get this, a total of 4 years. He pointed out that the Qing dynsty was not of Chinese ethnicity, but of Manchu, non Chinese ethnicity.

“Since making my move to the Middle Kingdom in August of last year, I have had five colds, three sinus infections, a urinary tract infection and now I get massive nosebleeds for some reason. I hope to hell it isn’t the hepatitis that runs rampant in this country. On top of that each time that I have made a trip to China in the last five years, I’ve left with a souvenir – Athletes Foot. I thought for sure after my wife and I moved into our own apartment (rather than a commune) that I wouldn’t have to deal with this problem anymore. Wrong! My feet are on fire again. ”

I understand when you blame China for getting flu or diarrhea but athletle’s foot is caused by your own hygiene(lack of). When you take a bath, make sure you clean between your toes.
I don’t know what causes the urinary tract infection, do you pee burning? is that some kinds of STD? LOL, I know it is a common disease for unneutered male cats.

I find it rather ironic that I hadn’t had any cases of althletes foot since my days of picking it up off the high school locker room. Until I started coming to China of course.
I wash my feet quite well thank you. It has more to do with the way the ‘bathrooms’ are set up here in China than anything else. Unlike showers in the West, water isn’t restricted to a basin. Instead the water flows directly across the floor into the ‘toilet’. On top of that the ‘bathrooms’ here in China don’t get a great deal of air-flow, which provides the perfect environement for hosting the althletes foot fungus. Just like a gym locker room.
I bleach my floors about once a week. Apparently I’ll need to do that more frequently.
