Hmm, lots of comments in the new Duck Pond, but none in here. Do we need an open thread anymore?

I’d say keep it a while longer and see what happens.
If you look at a site like Booman tribune, they have both open threads and “Froggy Bottom Cafe” both of which are basically for casual chatting.

Title: A group of Americans in China opened a ‘very hot’ forum to discuss China-related issues. Take a look.
It is said it’s one of the most famous place on the net to discuss China-related issues. Sometimes they have a lot of prejudice. Take a look if your English is good.

Does everyone get that. Jones put up a fake post allegedly from Sojourner creiticizing MAJ. Then Jones comes in all huffy-puffy, complaining that Sojourner is smearing him. When Jones wrote the smear himself! What kind of twisted game playing is this?

I am convinced MAJ is just trying to take the piss out of us all.
And so we find ourselves in a hermeneutic maze. Is this really Sojourner writing? Or is MAJ usurping Sojourner’s handle? Or is it Sojourner parodying MAJ pretending to be Sojourner?
Actually I really AM Sojourner. GAN BEI!!!! My friend Dr. Anne Myers has just sent me a personal email in response to my previous posting. She informs me that MAJ has ANOTHER site and this one has porno pictures of him and his drop-dead-gorgeous girlfriend!
Wow, he really is crazy and interesting, isn’t he??? I wish I lived in Shenzhen and could be his close and personal friend.
Now, this other site could be called sleazy and sad, but it isn’t. In fact it’s erotic art. I know that ‘cos there’s a poem accompanying the dirty pictures. Now, because I am definitely NOT Mark Anthony Jones, I am often critical of him. Therefore, I think the poem is excruciatingly sophomomic and insipid.
But, I read it again and see that from alternative “reading” the poem is a masterpiece!!! It is worthy of one of Shakespeare’s love sonnets, on a par with Goethe’s poignant literary classic, “The Sorrows of Young Werther”. It leaves me breathless and imbued with all the richness of the firmament.
Hey, let’s all continually visit Mark’s fascinating site!!!! Maybe we’ll be lucky and get rewarded with some open beaver shots!!! Then Mark can claim to be a popular blogger. Maybe he’ll get more hits than Richard on Peking Duck. But that’s not why I’m recommending visiting his site, as my interest is purely prurient!!!!

I would love to check out the dirty pics of his peasant slave-girl (is she STILL his fiancee?) but you need a password and he hasn’t given it to me. Maybe because I last commented on his site how for some reason there are no pics of him and his slave-girl together. Are you saying that he has porno-pics of the two of them? Is it the same girl, or did he pay the massage girls extra?

Someone (I presume Madge as whoever it was deleted my reference to him as deranged) has lifted MY parody of HIM masquerading as ME that I contributed to the Flowing Waters Stale site and pasted it here under my name.
I assure you, richard, I had no intention of inflicting it on you here.

Oh, and I echo richard in saying that Keir is missing nothing (except for the naff accompanying poem, which is a bit of a larf).
Roland directed me to Madge’s porno (sorry, “erotic”) site, but after we had both taken the piss of it on Madge’s main site he added the password-block.

Well, the one thing MAJ loves is attention … and (I’ve said it before) he seldom (if ever) believes anything he writies. So reacting to the specifics in any message is missing the point. Better to ignore it. Speaking of which … let’s do that. Enough about MAJ. Now about me … LOL.
Ummm … I’m so important, please pay attention to me, please react to what I say, please please please. Look at moie, look at moie, look at moie. (Say it in a broad Australian accent … if you’ve seen the show Kath and Kim, you’ll know what I’m talking about.)

Remember when Bush cycled into that police constable during the G8 summit in Gleneagles and he just laughed it off?
“In Scotland, an accident such as the one at Gleneagles could have led to police action. Earlier this year, Strathclyde Police issued three fixed penalty notices to errant cyclists as part of a crack-down on rogue riders. Legal experts also suggested lesser mortals could have ended up with a fixed penalty fine, prosecution, or at least a good ticking-off from officers.”
John Scott, a human rights lawyer, said: “There’s certainly enough in this account for a charge of careless driving. Anyone else would have been warned for dangerous driving.
“I have had clients who have been charged with assaulting a police officer for less than this. The issue of how long the police officer was out of action for is also important. He was away from work for 14 weeks, and that would normally be very significant in a case like this.”
