This really sickens me. How can you be so stupid as to hand the righties a gift like this? No, it’s not as vile as what you see on LGF or Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler or FrontPage – but it’s close enough. Being a liberal is about being open minded and compassionate, not about crude mockery or pettiness. Please people, grow up – don’t ever stoop to the gutter tactics of the right. You do no one any favors, least of all yourselves.

Ugliness. It knows neither left, nor right, nor middle. Rather dwells as a pinnacle to be achieved only by the specially gifted. There’s Michael Moore, there’s Tom DeLay, there’s Noam Chomsky, there’s Saddam Hussein. Who’s to say where it will strike next? Not in China, of course, the government forbids it, but possibly in some small Montana town where the citizens mistakenly think all is well.
Personally, I don’t think Bush is too pretty, but I am, and Richard is, and you know, there are a few more out there!
Kinky Friedman for president (of the EU and the UN). !!

Though the selection by the genocide apologist are pretty ugly, it’s quite telling the way the InstaParrot edited the comments. Didn’t put ellipses in to denote his removal of sections of the Salon article. Removed a lot of comments Salon thought notable, which the InstaParrot wouldn’t repeat for ideological reasons, like the ones pointing out the dreaded leftist MSM journalists marrying in to La Familia.
Here is the HuffPost post in question. Interestingly the reader’s favourite comments even point to the Salon post criticism and criticise the other commenters.
See the HuffPost has comments, unlike the genocide apologist, and registration that isn’t closed, unlike Squeaky Johnson of LGF, and doesn’t actively censor their comments, like almost all of the radical right blogs from LGF to Red State to Ann Althouse to Freeperville, etc.
For truly ugly, and not just snarkless namecalling, try FireDogLake’s category bigotsphere, especially this one on educating Leslie Blitzer.
And for those not faint of heart, The Great Society has pulled together a greatest hits list of the Little Green Raelians on Jill Carroll.
Fine comrades Mr. Genocide Apologist has for business partners.

Heh! Looks like someone forgot to tell that to the rest of the liberals. They are just as dirty and under-handed as some of those on the right – in some cases even more so.
I agree with Sam in that the ugliness is non-partisan.

Instapundit is not exactly known for truth-telling. Did anyone go back and recover the original comments to see if they were from liberals and were correctly presented?

No one is perfect and certainly there’s a lot of petty b.s. to go around. But for organized character assassination, no one can beat today’s G.O.P.
Ask Jill Carroll.

Michael, I tried to post a comment here yesterday on that very topic, but for some reason it didn’t go through. Perhaps too many links for documentation of real ugly. Especially in terms of OtherLisa’s mention of Jill Carroll.
The InstaParrot did do a creative editing job without providing any notes of evidence of his editing. Mostly to eliminate those quotes concerning how many of the eeeeee-vil lie-brul MSM are actually tightly connected to the Bushevik crime family and their imperial court.
I also provided a link back to the original HuffPost article and you’ll note that the most highly rated comments there were the ones being disgusted with the comments posted at Salon and the InstaParrot.
Big diff between the HuffPost with uncensored comments and open registration and the InstaParrot, the genocide apologist with no comments, and his #1 business partner Squeaky Johnson and his Little Green Raelians, with closed registration and active censorship, or their #1 competition the Freepers, with open registration but active account deletion and active censorship.

The Great Society cataloging the Little Green Raelians on Jill Carroll — and trust me this is so much worse than anything on the left, Gordon.
FireDogLake’s category “bigotsphere” which is going to document the cesspools of the right. Not some 2nd grade playground name calling, but outright racism and glenn-ocidal tendencies. Lots of updates in comments to these threads with examples from vdare to lucianne to freeperville and on and on.

And here’s the original HuffPost article. Doubt you’ll ever see so much tut-tuting and dissent over hateful comments at Red State or Freeperville or the Little Green Raelians or any of the few other war bloggers that allow comments.

And I don’t mean to play the “Oh, the OTHER side does it too, so there” game. But it’s a real, qualitative difference. Carroll wasn’t just smeared by some creepy bloggers; she had Howard Kurtz (you know, of the “Liberal Media”) after her. McCain, McClelland and the Wilsons were smeared in a coordinated effort, led by the Republican Party under Rove and then the White House.
The Jill Carroll thing was so utterly sickening, so beyond the bounds of acceptable political discourse. It pissed me off more than I can say. Particularly because she was being smeared by a bunch of he-man wannabees who’d probably wet their pants had they been in her situation.
“101st Fighting Keyboardists” indeed…
Sorry to go off-topic here, but…it really made me mad.
