I knew she was vile and stupid. but not retarded. Her latest insanity is forcing me to reconsider:
In the wake of Dean’s success, the entire Democratic Dream Team is beginning to sound like Dr. Demento. On the basis of their recent pronouncements, the position of the Democratic Party seems to be that Saddam Hussein did not hit us on 9-11, but Halliburton did.
Hmmm. Were all those reports of Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda masterminding 911 a big mistake? Where is this harpie coming from? Let’s hope it’s a joke. She can’t be serious. Right?
She also refers to the members of the United Nations as “swine” and totally bastardizes post-WWII history in an amazingly audacious and idiotic attempt at revisionism. It’s incredible. It’s shameless. It’s unprecedented.

Just a rumor, but supposedly she’s changing her last name to Goebbels.
After reading the article, you really have to wonder how such a pretty woman could have so much bitterness and hatred bottled up in that lithe body.

The more we know what these freaks are saying the better we can fight them. Some just want to dismiss her, but she has an audience and a following, so we need to watch her.
A shrieking mass of toxic gases concentrated in an anorexic body with a pretty face….

Look, she published an entire book suggesting that questioning or trying to change policies from “conservative authorities” is ‘Treason.’
She’s the definition of mountebank.

I like that word, mountebank. But it’s too nice. She’s more dangerous than your typical shyster, and the fact that right-wing sites acknowledge her as a deep thinker is alarming. Remember, Hitler started off as a shrill, fringe lunatic spewing hate and outrageous lies. All Coulter’s missing is the mustache.

Richard,
I suspect I’m a denizen of the other side of the aisle than you, but I have yet to actually find a right-wing person who has either defended or agreed with Coulter. Most of the Right tend to regard her as being cut from the same cloth as Michael Moore.
The only reason I bring this up, is that have folks on the Left side of the aisle ever encountered any of the barking moonbat theories that suggested that Bush willingly orchestrated 9/11 for oil companies, such as Halliburton. To be fair, I’ve only seen this kind of jackassery once or twice (and would have to dig for a bit to find it, since I paid it no mind).
The interesting compare and contrast (to me) is the notion that ascribing Coulter’s broadly to the Right is about as reasonable as ascribing barking moonbat views to the Left.
Just my coupla cents.

I don’t have the link on hand, but Orcinus mentioned a few months ago how far right-wing groups see Coulter as an intellectual, a deep thinker. He quoted them, and it was revealing. Her books are not just bestsellers, but No. 1 bestellers. She has a link on one of the most popular news portals, Matt Drudge and she certainly has a cult following. She wrote for a mainstream Republican journal until her crack about Muslims got her fired. I read at least three reviews of Treason by conservative reporters that started along the lines of, “I admire Coulter’s work and believe she is very intelligent, but Treason is poorly researched and jumps to unsupportable conclusions, etc.” They slam the book, but there is a lot of respect for Ann. When I get more time I’ll try to come back to this and give links and examples. Bottom line is I recognize what a joke she is, as is Rush Limbaugh, but these people have succeeded in the past in planting ideas in more mainstream psyches. Again, Orcinus has a lot of proof of this at his blog.

Well, I’ve got admit that I’ve never personally read anything with anything good to say about Coulter. But then again I’m not interested enough in what she has to say (one way or the other) to have read reviews. I’ll crash around a smidge and take a look-see at the Orincus and oh-wait. You’re not citing World News Daily as the heart and soul of the right are you?
If you want to start picking out fringe groups that have whackjob opinions, then you’re not citing sources your implying connections that just aren’t substantiative. You can do a hatchet job of just about anything if you choose to tune into the tinfoil hat brigade.
But at any rate, I’ll poke around some of the “respectable” right wing joints and see what floats up.

Hmm, no, I’m really pointing to WND as a source for many “whackjob opinions.”
They’ve got the Limbaughs, Drudge, O’Reilly, Falwell, Joe Farah (the editor/owner)… the list goes on.
They’re the Poor Man’s Weekly Standard.
