Breather

I’m going through one of those post-New Year’s Hamlet moments, where I wonder whether I want to blog or not to blog. I know that at the moment I don’t want to, but that could change. Being this far from China has made me feel awfully detached from life over there; it was much easier to blog from there, where I always seemed to have a story to tell.

Whether I continue to post or not, I’m definitely taking a few more days (weeks?) off. Hopefully I can get back into the swing sometime soon.

Maybe you could start writing about the bizarre things you see over there, for those of us over here? Anyway – I’m with Jean, too.

Yeah! How about a long rant on Arizona! That’d be sweet.

It’ll have to wait, I’ll be on a business trip this week. I have a lot to say about what’s going on in Arizona.

I hope when you’re back to blogging you’ll comment on this article as well.

Wow. Just wow.

And now for something different.

The most beautiful Spanish Chinese woman.

Miss China is not only elected on that Asian country. In Madrid a jury has elected the most beautiful Chinese woman in Spain. Seventeen girls participated, and the winner is this young lady.

Her name is Elisa Zheng, born in Spain, she is 18 years old and want to be flight attendant. The most beautiful Chinese who lives in our country has won 1000 euros and a trip through Europe.

Chinese beauty made in Spain. ๐Ÿ™‚

She is a pretty lady but I do not endorse beauty contests. Too shallow/materialistic for my taste.

Spain ought to start literary contests in Chinese or something. That’d get my attention.

Given the recent influx of Chinese immigrantion, second and third generations born in Spain and adopted Chinese children by Spanish families (usually females, and also sent to learn chinese language and culture by their adoptive parents) it is quite possible to get a Chinese literary contest in the not so distant future.

Maybe an adaptation of Don Quixote to a Chinese environment. For example

“In a place in Quinhai, whose name I do not want to recall, there dwelt not so long ago a gentleman of the type wont to keep an unused lance, an old shield, a greyhound for racing, and a skinny old horse.”

I don`t have a problem with beauty contests. A nice and shallow/light hearted event is good for the spirit and for the eyes. Keeping a bow always tight will eventually break it or loose its strength

Well if people don’t take them seriously then they’re fine.

But when you emphasize image over content you end up with all the teenagers getting orange skin and fake noses, lips and boobs… and we don’t want Spain or for that matter any other country to turn into Orange County, do we.

Ever been to Southern California?

You were one of the first blogs I began reading. Your voice and knowledge are positive and thoughtful. I hope you will continue, but I understand the need for a break. I look forward to keeping up with your perspective, even though I have been distracted by bread baking and gardening. That was a break of its own, since retirement is turning out to be quite a job. Best wishes, and enjoy yourself!

Bill, thanks for the kind comment. I’m semi-retired at the moment, so I know what you mean.
